34. APPROVAL OF LEASE AGREEMENT AND OPERATING AGREEMENT FOR THE SAILOR CIRCUS WITH CIRCUS SARASOTADescription The Board transferred oversight of the Sailor Circus to the Police Athletic League in January of 2004. Since that time the Police Athletic League has continued the proud traditions of the Sailor Circus. Recent conversations between School Board staff, the Sheriff, and Circus Sarasota have led to a model that would change this relationship from the Police Athletic League having oversight of Sailor Circus to Circus Sarasota taking that role. Circus Sarasota is a long standing and well respected organization with both professional circus performers and a leadership structure that will benefit the students and staff of the Sailor circus for years to come. These agreements establish the circumstances and operating procedures under which that relationship will be executed. Note that the agreement includes both a commitment to the traditions of the Sailor Circus and a commitment to enrollment and performances.
